Host Immune Stimulator Peptide (HISP-P™)

Our lead immunoactivator/molecular adjuvant is a short fully synthetic peptide structurally engineered to selectively engage and activate immune cells without associated inflammatory response. HISP can be applied as a standalone immune activator in healthy individuals to prevent or reduce possibility of disease. It functions by eliciting an innate immune response that is TH-1 biased, and has broad prophylactic and therapeutic applications.

HeptaVac™

Generates long term cellular immunity.

Our lead vaccine is a self-adjuvating peptide vaccine cocktail that stimulates cellular immunity to generate long term memory for influenza A (H1N1) in pigs. Traditional vaccines work by eliciting an antibody response and invariably show

poor or mid-range efficacy. HeptaVac™ contains a self-adjuvating component that elicits an innate immune response as well as specific antigenic peptides that stimulate a cellular immune (T-cell response) response against the virus.

Cytotoxic vaccines elicit Tc -mediated infected cell killing,
specific Th -mediated humoral immune responses
and a Th 1-biased cytokine responses.

The Power of Peptides

We’re developing immunoactivator peptides that each have a slightly different configuration to activate the innate immune system. They work by engaging the cell surface receptor for the C5a complement fragment. The variant configurations impart a significant immune stimulatory activity on the peptides while eliminating any accompanying inflammatory activity.

Our peptides can be used alone as activators of the non-specific innate immune response and can be employed

as molecular adjuvants in humans or animals. Or can be conjugated to an antigen of choice to generate specific immune responses to specific pathogens.

Each peptide may act preferentially against a different spectrum of pathogens, species routes of administration giving us the ability to tackle a wide range of existing and emerging diseases in humans and animals.
